Beat the Summer Heat With 4 Commercial Landscaping Tips

It's no mystery that high summer temperatures creates stress for your commercial lawn and landscape. One of the biggest hurdles that business owners have is keeping the landscape looking fresh throughout the summer. Beat the heat with these landscaping tips from Carolina's Finest Lawn Care.

Water Regularly

To avoid dry, withered plants, you want to water your landscape as often as possible. Of course, you want to stay mindful of water usage to prevent overwatering. If you have an automatic irrigation system, this will give you a chance to have consistent watering without the effort.

Use Fertilizer

Fertilizers are full of nutrients. If you want your plants to grow green and lush, you should apply fertilizer twice a year. In some cases, you may even need it three to five times per year. The best times to apply are early spring and fall, so be sure you have a plan in place when summer comes to a close.

Control Growth and Pests

Take the time to inspect your landscape. This is a great time to take preventative measures against any pests like aphids, slugs, snails, or grasshoppers. If you find evidence of disease or pests, you can take care of it early.

Try Mulching

Nutrient-rich mulch can regulate soil moisture and temperature. It is dense, so it protects the roots from sun exposure and can even help keep grass from growing in areas that you don’t want it. When summer is at it’s hottest, be sure to mulch around the base of the plant. Be careful not to cover the base of the plant with mulch as this can lead to rotting.
